Afton Smith was born on the 3rd day of the month of Christmas 1967 in Northport, Long Island, New York. Due to her place of birth, she holds an American citizenship and is of White heritage. There is no record of the actress going to school, nor any record of her being homeschooled. Being a very private person, she has also withheld information about her childhood and family.
Being on the big screen in Hollywood isn’t easy to achieve, but Afton Smith had harbored a dream of being a Hollywood superstar for a while and pursued it strategically. She made her debut in the film Less Than Zero (1987), but she didn’t get another role until four years later, when she starred in the 1991 film Fried Green Tomatoes. Her role in the film brought her fame and opened up many other roles. She then starred in the romantic comedy-drama film, Reality Bites (1994) then appeared in the film George of the Jungle which garnered her public acclaim.

The chemistry between them was instant and they started dating. Despite being a year older than Fraser, the two were born on the same day but different years.
They were four years old and finally got engaged in October 1997. Almost a year later, in September 1998 to be precise, they exchanged vows at the Bel Air Hotel in Los Angeles.
