A model turn-out actor, Manolo Gonzalez Vergara is perhaps known best to the public as the son of the famous “Modern Family” actress, Sofia Vergara. However, Manolo seems to have managed to use his popularity as a celebrity child as well as his good looks and acting talent to leave a mark in the entertainment industry.
Born under the zodiac sign of Virgo on 16 September 1991, Manolo is today aged 31 (as of July 2023). A native of Barranquilla, Columbia, he holds both Columbian and American citizenship, since most of his childhood days he spent with his mother in the United States after she emigrated from Columbia.
In one of her interviews, Sofia revealed that she emigrated in 1998, after her elder brother, Rafael was murdered during an attempt to kidnap him. She was afraid that the same thing could happen to her. Manolo and Sofia lived with her cousin and adopted sister, Sandra Vergara, in Los Angeles, California USA.
Manolo attended a local high school, and upon matriculating in 2009, enrolled at Emerson College, from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Film Production, in 2013.

Manolo’s father is Sofia Vergara’s first husband, Joe Gonzalez. He’s only known as the actress’s ex-husband, although some reports say that he’s an American businessman. It’s known that he is also from Barranquilla, and that he and Sofia met in a high school.
They were high-school sweethearts, and married in 1990 when Sofia was 18 years old, but the couple divorced in 1993. At the time, Sofia had already launched her modeling career in Columbia, and by the age of 23, she was a catwalk model. Between 1995 and 1998, she co-hosted a travel show, “Fuera de Series”, becoming a favorite Colombian TV personality.
She struggled after immigrating to the USA, but in 2002, Sofia made her acting debut as Nina in the movie “Big Trouble”. Her breakthrough role came in 2009, when she was cast to play Gloria Delgado-Pritchett in the hit comedy series “Modern Family”, appearing in all 250 episodes of the series which aired until 2020 – it had 384 award nominations and 122 wins, including 22 Primetime Emmys.
For her performance in the series, Sofia received numerous nominations and awards, including the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Comedy TV Star. On 7 May 2015, she was rewarded with her Star on the Walk of Fame, at 7013 Hollywood Boulevard.
When it comes to her personal life, since 21 November 2015, Sofia has been married to Joe Manganiello, a famed “True Blood” actor.
